Makemake: Largest Kuiper Belt Object (Fact of the Day)

Makemake is one of the five dwarf planets classified till date and was the third object to be classified as a dwarf planet after Pluto and Eris. It is actually the largest Kuiper Belt Object (KBO) in the classical population discovered yet. Classical population are objects in the Kuiper Belt which has low eccentric orbit and they don't cross the orbit of Neptune, unlike Pluto. It has a diameter of approximately 2/3 the size of Pluto. It is 52 Astronomical Units (AU) away from the Sun and it takes 310 years to orbit the Sun once. Makemake has no known satellites.
