NGC 7027: Planetary Nebula (Picture of the Day)

NGC 7027
NGC 7027 is a planetary nebula located about 3,000 light years away from us in the constellation of Cygnus. It was discovered in 1878 and it is one of the smallest planetary nebula. It is a very young and dense nebula and is also one of the most extensively studied nebula. It is expanding at a rate of 17 km/s. The surrounding halo is about 3 times the mass of our Sun and the central region of the nebula is about 100 times more massive. It is also radiating at 7,700 times the luminosity of our Sun.
