Baby Boom Galaxy: Brightest Starburst Galaxy (Fact of the Day)

Baby Boom Galaxy
Baby Boom Galaxy is the brightest starburst galaxy discovered yet. It is an elliptical galaxy located about 12.2 billion light years away in the constellation of Sextans. It is mainly known for the extreme star formation rate and therefore has a nickname of "the extreme stellar machine". It produces about 4000 stars per year compared to our own Milky way Galaxy galaxy's star formation rate of 10 stars per year. If it continues at the same rate, this galaxy would become the most massive ever in 50 million years.
