Comet Lulin (Picture of the Day)

Comet Lulin
Comet Lulin is a non-periodic comet which was discovered on 11 July, 2007. It has an orbital period of 42,000 years. One of the interesting things about this comet is that it moved in the opposite to the planets and therefore, it had a higher apparent velocity. It became visible to the naked eye on February 7, 2009. The closest approach of the comet was about 0.41 AU from Earth.
