Proxima Centauri: Closest Star to our Sun (Fact of the Day)

Proxima Centauri

Proxima Centauri is the closest star to our Sun and to our Solar system. It is a red dwarf star which is about 4.2 light years away in the constellation of Centaurus. It is a smaller star than our Sun, and in fact the diameter of it is just one-seventh of our Sun. Its mass is just one-eighth of our Sun. The luminosity of Proxima Centauri is also very low. As it has a low mass and low luminosity, it will have a higher life than our Sun.
